Lesson Outline
Taylor and I worked on proofreading the surveys for the yearbook. We then brainstormed ideas for section titles. We also began composing some articles for the yearbook. We then continued our study of the novel. We read and annotated the book. We discussed the difference between mood and tone as used in the novel. We also discussed some topics that would be appropriate for her double journal entries which are due on Tuesday.

Olivia and I completed our discussion of the novel. We also discussed the short answer review sheet which was supposed to be completed today. We then discussed the Argumentative essay which will be the summative assessment for this novel. Olivia needs to research her topic and bring her research to class to begin drafting. We did a brief introduction to our next novel TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. Then Olivia took a vocabulary assessment in her vocabulary book.

Lesson Outline
Taylor and I completed lesson 7 in her vocabulary book. We then read and studied some of the novel. We stopped to annotate for understanding and for author's purpose. We talked about the writing of the double journal entries and how to use the annotations to help in the writing of them.

Taylor and I continued reading and studying the novel. We are really placing a high emphasis on annotation. Taylor will use her annotations to write her double journal entries as she responds to her reading. We stop to discuss plot and author's purpose as we read.

Olivia turned in her double journal entries for the last few chapters of the novel. She did a wonderful job! We discussed her entries then we moved forward to discuss the argumentative essay which will be her final assessment for this novel. We brainstormed the topic and created a rough outline. We also wrote the thesis statement together. Olivia needs to find three additional articles to use in her paper. Olivia did not complete the short answer review to the novel so she needs to finish that for Thursday.

Taylor turned in her argumentative essay after making her final revisions in class. She had completed most of it as homework. I presented an introduction to the novel. We discussed the Prezi from the computer. We then began reading the novel. I explained that there would be no study guide. That Taylor would annotate the text extensively then write double journal entries for the pages read that week.

Olivia and I continued our study of the novel. We read some of the novel stopping to annotate for meaning and literary devices used by the author. We are really trying to work on annotation to assist Olivia with the writing of her double journal entries and her literary analysis. We then talked about the next section in the vocabulary book. Olivia will do the cumulative review over lessons 1-3 for a grade.
