Today, we practiced a lot of conversations in class. We reviewed the most important grammar rules and vocabulary from chapter 1. We worked on some cultural points about immigration, too. We are watching and discussing a moving called the American Dream! She likes this project a lot! For homework, she will practice on quizlet and duolingo.
I gave Samantha the practice test on quadratic functions consisting of 25 problems including vertices and axes of symmetry of parabolas, factoring quadratic functions, solving quadratic equations, and complex numbers. Sam worked throughout the session on the practice test and did not finish by the end of the class. There was no assignment.

Saman that had some questions but showed that she understands this topic well.
The physics of holography was explained with the emphasis on fourier transforms being the mathematics that can convert any image into a series of waveforms and vice versa. How a holographic film can record waves and interference patterns and the holographic property of each piece of a holographic film containing the information of the whole was emphasized. This "each part containing the whole" property was related to concepts in mathematics such as fractals and phi, the golden ratio, which is found throughout nature. The brain and its holographic properties were explained, with an in depth look at how all 5 senses are based on vibration and a small range of frequencies, and how things such as memory, vision and movement are stored in the brain holographically. Ideas from ancient Hermeticism and Vedic science were reviewed and related to these concepts.
Assignment
To finish previous assignment and to finish reading Chapter 1 in the text
We started the lesson by finishing 1-9 material and the first Chapter of the text. We did some practice problems from the Chapter 1 review and assessment. We ended by doing some practice problems with solving quadratic equations by factoring and using the quadratic formula to prepare her for her Algebra II exam.
We explored the various philosophies and paradigms of ancient sciences more in depth and discussed some experimental findings of modern science that confirms them. The holographic principle of nature was explained and compared to Hermetic science and its axioms.
Sam continued to take notes on major compromises reached during the Constitutional Convention, including the indirect election of the president through the electoral college. I explained how a candidate can lose the popular vote and still be elected. We next discussed the ratification process and the role of the Federalist Papers in encouraging ratification. Sam's homework is to read pages 83-85 and to answer questions 1 -4 on page 85. Sam began the assignment in class, and I assisted her in formulating some responses related to the Great Compromise.
I guided Samantha through some carefully selected problems to reinforce her knowledge of several topics in quadratic expressions and equations. The topics included calculating the vertices and axes of symmetry for the graph of quadratic functions, factoring quadratic functions, solving quadratic equations by various means, finding the type and number of solutions of a quadratic equation, and operations with complex numbers. After working through the chapter review, I gave Sam the practice test consisting of 25 problems. She worked through part of it by the end of the second session. We will continue to work on the practice test next session. There was no assignment.

Lesson Comments
Samantha was a bit unfocused today but managed to accomplish a great deal of work. It helps that she has studied this topic before.
During our first session, we reviewed Sam's homework on the reading and corrected multiple choice questions on the first state constitutions and the Articles of Confederation. Sam then completed an in-class activity that required that she locate and then write on a chart specific textual portions of the Declaration that addressed certain identified disagreements the colonists had with England, such as taxation without representation, quartering soldiers, and the absence of a guaranty of trial by jury. She did very well with this exercise. During our second session, Sam took notes on the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation and the compromises made during the Constitutional Convention. Sam evidenced a good understanding of a bicameral legislature and the constitutional system of electing members of both houses of Congress. For homework, I assigned as reading pages 78-83, and answering questions 1,3, and 4 on pg 85.
The foundation of yoga and its practice was reviewed, with a concentration on the 8 main tenets of yoga. The relationship of yoga with physics and modern science was explored. The role of consciousness in science was discussed.
Sam and I finished our anticipation guide/character trait chart for the characters of the Pardoner and The Wife of Bath from Chaucer's prologue of the Canterbury Tales. Sam does a very nice job interpreting Chaucer's language and description. We discussed Chaucer's use of characterization to paint a picture of the pilgrims on the journey. We read the introduction to the Pardoner's Tale and we will read that next time. We talked about annotating the text for understanding. We also discussed the LINKS to forceful writing sheet on co-ordinate connectives.
