Chris was excited to meet today, as he unexpectedly initiated the session from home this morning a few minutes ahead of schedule. He shared that he was "home from school today," and "wanted to make sure that we still had our class." He rapidly began a sort of "show and tell" as he shared the new computer apps and programs that he recently acquired. This afforded an excellent opportunity to review narrative generation, and the key components needed for a strong, cohesive, linguistically sound narrative. He quickly shared "Oh yeah Ms. Lynne, I remember all that stuff," and proceeded to generate a strong narrative with minimal cueing. Attention was strong today, and conversational reciprocity was characterized by lengthy cycles of exchange with periods of overlap notably decreased. Strong session today. He was commended for demonstrating such responsibility for ensuring that he was present today.
Luke had a rough start to the session today- refusing to do work but turned it around nicely and participated in all tasks. He shared he was not feeling well today. He worked on L blends today in short sentences with 90% accuracy. He then worked on some memory tasks with 90% accuracy.
Richard had a great session today. He worked hard. He answered questions about reading comprehension passages that were read aloud to him. Richard answered questions with 75% accuracy. Some specific details were difficult to recall.
S: Noah was seen at the Batt School for treatment. Noah was eager to work with SLP for majority of the session. Some task refusal noted. O: Noah was first read a story aloud and asked mixed “wh” questions throughout. Noah completed the task with 71% accuracy. Next, Noah asked to complete a letter identification exercise with the letters A-I. Letters were first reviewed, then identified in a field of 3 letters. Noah identified letters A-C with 100% accuracy, D-F with 67% accuracy, and G-I (newly introduced) with 100% accuracy. Averages across letter groups give an overall accuracy of 89%. Lastly, Noah was probed with a variety of sight words then was asked to match the sight word modeled given a field of 3 sight word answer choices. He completed the activity with 83% accuracy. A: Noah displays increases across goals. P: Continue POC.
S: Noah was seen at the Batt School for treatment. Noah was eager to work with SLP for majority of the session. Increased distractibility noted during some activities. O: Noah was first asked to label the category of 3 items provided given no field of answer choices. He completed the activity with 60% accuracy. After, Noah asked to complete a letter identification exercise with the letters A-F. Letters were first reviewed, then identified in varying field sizes up to 3. Noah completed the activity with 68% accuracy. Next, Noah was probed with a variety of sight words then was asked to match the sight word provided given a field of 4 sight word answer choices. He completed the activity with 70% accuracy. Then, he was asked what does not belong in a group of 4 items. He completed the task with 70% accuracy. Lastly, Noah was asked to blend 3 letter words when given the 3 sounds verbally. He completed the task with 62% accuracy. A: Noah displays increases as well as decreases across goals. Decreases could be attributed to break between sessions due to spring break and/or increased level of distractibility during tasks. P: Continue POC.
Chris was eager to initiate conversation this morning, as he inquired about the topics that have been at the forefront of recent sessions. His strong motivation continues to provide excellent opportunities to expand into the key aspects of perspective taking, presupposition, "filtering," and topics such as intentionality, empathy, and predicting outcomes. This continues to be a vital focus, as navigating successful peer communication exchanges and relationships is paramount.
Strong cue support strategies were provided as Chris navigated "problem solving scenarios" which highlighted the dynamics of "text messaging" in contrast to verbal, face to face communication. Review of the aspects of facial expression, gestural communication, and use of intonation as it relates to intention was embedded within the problem solving scenarios. Familiar attentional shifting was observed to increase as task demand increased. Provision of familiar "Brain Gym" activities facilitated stronger self awareness and successful task completion. Strong session today.
Chris was seen this morning following a lengthy spring break. He rapidly initiated conversation as the session commenced, and quickly apologized for not sharing that he was going to be absent for two weeks. He had what appeared to be a "preplanned agenda" of a myriad of topics that he wanted to discuss. Attention was strong this session, and topic transition was supported with familiar cues. It is significant to note that once engulfed in the session, and expanded reciprocal conversation was facilitated, spontaneous use of familiar transition phrases was noted. Speaker -speaker overlap was noted to increase this session, as Chris was clearly eager to share his thoughts. However, instances of stronger self awareness were observed, and subsequent acknowledgment, and repair was noted across 8 occurrences. Topic expansion once again included aspects of perspective taking, presupposition, and "filtering."
Strong session today.
Richard had a great session today. Richard did a main idea listening comprehension passage with 80% accuracy and a grade level listening comprehension story with 90% accuracy.

O: Noah was first asked what belongs in a category given the category verbally and a field of 4 picture answer choices. He completed the activity with 80% accuracy. He was then asked to label the category given a field of 4 pictures. He completed the activity with 70% accuracy. After, Noah asked to complete a letter identification exercise with the letters A-F. Letters were first reviewed, then identified in varying field sizes up to 3. Noah completed the activity with 64% accuracy. Next, Noah was probed with a variety of sight words then was asked to match the sight word provided given a field of 4 sight word answer choices. He completed the activity with 95% accuracy. Lastly, he was asked to blend 3 letter words when given the 3 sounds verbally. He completed the task with 75% accuracy. A: Noah displays consistency/progress across goals. Decreases displayed when activities increase in difficulty (e.g. letter identification given more letter options). P: Continue POC.
