Becca was in a great mood today! She was full of energy and ready and to learn! During our session, Becca asked me to use the potty to go poop and produced, therefore she able to chose something from the treasure box! She chose a purple ball that lights up when she bounces it! Also, she was rewarded with her favorite Busy Town episode called "The Big Operation." I was very proud of Becca! WE began our session with a coloring worksheet on the letter C. Becca pointed to the pictures and identified them as a cat, cloud, and caterpillar. We have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, so when Becca saw the picture of the caterpillar she identified that the caterpillar will turn into a butterfly. After identifying the pictures she colored the worksheet. Becca and I listened to a story called "Counting Bugs" on Razkids.com. Then, she completed a activity where she identified the animals and insects and distinguished if they had stripes, patches, or spots. Becca and I practiced cutting out the pictures with scissors and glued them under the correct column. Then, Becca and I looked through a Magic School Bus book on Volcanoes. We discussed terms such as lava, magma, and rock. In addition, Becca watched a Magic School Bus video called "Blows Its Top" to go along with the story we discussed. Becca and I assembled an emergent reader called "A Pet for Bret and Chet" and read through this a few times. During music, Becca and I practiced playing some of the instruments such as the triangle, cymbals, bells, and drums. She really enjoys doing this!

Becca seemed tired today but she was in a pleasant mood. I noticed she was not as focused on tasks as she usually is during our sessions, which I am sure had to do with her feeling tired. We began our session by assembling an emergent reader called "How Many Frogs?" First, Becca and I colored each page of the reader. Then, we read the book through a few times counting up to five frogs. Becca was able to identify the numbers up to five. Also, Becca watched a counting song on the iPad called "Five Little Frogs." During snack, Becca did not eat very much, which is not like her. During Language arts, Becca and I worked on the short U sound, such as ud, un, and ub. Becca and I practiced using the scissors to cut out pictures with the short U sound and glued the correct picture under the correct short U sound. I would ask Becca "Does sun make the un sound or the ub sound?" and she would respond with the correct answer. She did an excellent job with this activity. During science, Becca and I discussed the different body coverings that animals have. Then, she completed a worksheet where she sorted animal pictures into groups based on their body coverings, such as fur, feathers, scales, and skin. Finally, Becca wanted to make a flower for Nana like the flower we made on Friday out of tissue paper. After making Nana's flower, we put the flower in her folder in her book bag so she could give it to Nana.

Today we began our session by creating a poster for "April showers bring May flowers." Becca ripped up pieces of tissue paper and glued them onto a flower layout. She enjoyed creating the flower in this activity and we hung it on her wall! Becca and I completed a lot of our language arts work using the iPad. The iPad is great for Becca because it challenges her fine motor skills and she is fully engaged in the activities. We used the Starfall application on the ipad to work with the -at sound. In addition, we listened to a story called "The Cat and the Rat." After listening to it a few times Becca was able to repeat -at words she heard in the story. We continued our science lesson on animal life cycles and re-read the emergent reader "Butterfly, Butterfly." Then, Becca completed a worksheet where she cut, glued, and colored pictures in order to complete each life cycle such as, butterfly, frog, and chicken life cycles. After, we watched a short educational video from Sesame Street based on the life of a butterfly. Becca and I continued our "Counting Eggs" emergent reader and practiced counting to ten with plastic eggs. Then, Becca sorted picture cards of animals identifying which animal belongs in the zoo or farm category. Finally, we read "Where is the Cow?" and Becca used the farmer to show me the directions in which the farmer looked for the cow in the story. For example, under the barn, on top of the barn, next to the barn, behind the barn, and inside the barn. We had not read this in about a week and she remembered it very well. Becca was great at school today! She was warm, kind, energetic, and on task! We had a fantastic morning!

Today Becca had a much better day! She was energetic, on task, and focused! We began our session with zoo animal beginning sound cards. Becca identified the animal on the card and told me which letter when given two choices belonged at the beginning of the word. For example, B for Bear. She was able to identify all ten animals and the beginning sounds for each word. Becca and I assembled an emergent reader called "Butterfly, Butterfly." Once we assembled the reader Becca colored it. We read through the story a few times then I would ask Becca comprehension questions about what we read. During science, Becca and I completed an activity called "A Butterfly's Life." Becca and I practiced cutting with scissors to cut out each life cycle and glued the pictures of the life cycles in the correct order to the wings on the butterfly worksheet. After, we colored the butterfly. This activity went along with the emergent reader. After snack, Becca and I explored musical instruments, such as the cymbals, triangle, maracas, drums, and bells. We practiced playing these instruments and marching around like they do in the "Disney Parade" and singing the "Ants go marching…", which Becca really enjoyed doing! Using razkids.com Becca and I listened to a story about butterflies. Finally, Becca and I went into the art room and painted two pictures of butterflies and hung them up in Becca's room.

Becca seemed out of character today. I was not sure if maybe Becca did not feel well or maybe she was tired from her weekend at Disney. We started our day with the "Guess Who!" book Becca brought in today. Then, we colored a picture of a clown fish, which related to a part in the book. We re-read the "Rainbow Fish" story comparing and contrasting the rainbow fish and the clown fish. Becca and I made a horse poster while discussing the letter H and what sound the letter H makes. In addition, Becca traced upper and lower case H and traced the word "Horse." After completing this activity we hung this poster in Becca's room. Becca and I continued learning about the letter H completing a worksheet where Becca identified pictures and colored the pictures whose first letter began with H. She did a great job with this! Becca and I watched a short educational phonics video on the letter H using the iPad. During science, Becca and I discussed how animals move in different ways. She completed a sorting activity placing the animals into groups based on how they move. For example, walk, run, hop, swim, and fly. We practiced cutting with scissors and cut out the pictures of the animals together. Then, Becca pasted the pictures onto the sorter and colored it. Becca enjoys making crafts at school so we assembled a cow out of construction paper and a paper plate. She loved this activity and we hung this up in her room. During math, Becca and I used legos to help us count. In this activity Becca put the legos together building different size towers or what Becca liked to call the towers "Disney Castle!" After assembling the lego towers we would count how many legos we used to build each one. Becca and I use the iPad throughout our session for educational purposes as well as for a quick break when needed.

Today we began with a coloring activity of animals at the zoo and we focused on target areas with different colors. I am trying to have Becca focus on coloring smaller areas of the picture and choosing one colored pencil at a time to color with. She really enjoyed coloring today! Becca and I used a letter activity, which involves stringing wooden letters onto a shoe lace. I held up a letter and asked Becca to identify what letter it was, what sound the letter made, and we name words that began with that letter. Once she completes the task, she strings the letter onto the shoe lace. Becca and I practice cutting paper with scissors today. I helped her with this task using hand over hand to open and close the scissors. We watched a story called "Colorful Eggs" on Razkids.com and after watching it a few times through Becca was able to identify three ideas from the story. During math, Becca and I completed many counting activities. We reviewed our "Counting Eggs" emergent reader from yesterday and practiced counting eggs up to five. I would say 1,2,3 and Becca would finish counting by saying 4 and 5 when counting the eggs in the nest. Also, we practiced holding up however many eggs were in the nest from the story. In addition, Becca had goldfish leftover from her snack yesterday and we practiced counting the goldfish up to ten. Then, Becca enjoyed eating the fish after our counting activity. Finally, Becca and I went into the art room and created a tiger mask by using a paper plate and painting it orange and black. We will finish it tomorrow because it needed to dry. Becca expressed to me during this activity that she watched The Lion King last night and started singing "I just can't wait to be king!" It was adorable! Overall, we had a productive and busy day full of learning!

We began our day with coloring a picture of ocean animals. Becca named each one in the picture such as a octopus, starfish, crab, and stingray. I was impressed that Becca knew it was a picture of a stingray! During science, Becca completed a worksheet where she had to choose the correct items to take on the beach from the pictures provided. We glued each beach picture to the worksheet and left out the pictures that did not belong such as a snowman and mittens. We colored the picture once the worksheet was completed. During language arts, Becca and I read an emergent reader called "On the Ranch", which I introduced to her on Friday. After, we used pictures cards of farm animals and zoo animals and Becca sorted which animals belonged at the zoo and the farm. She did a great job with this. Then, we read a story on Razkids.com called "The Farm Animal Story." During math, Becca and I assembled an emergent reader called "Counting Eggs." We used 5 plastic eggs she had painted a few weeks ago as manipulatives. This book involved counting to five. I would hold up one egg and ask Becca how many eggs I was holding. I noticed in the beginning she was saying two for all of the amounts of eggs I was holding. However, we went through it a few times and she started telling me the correct amounts. We will continue to practice counting. She was bit sleepy at the end of our session, which was understandable because of her exciting weekend! We had a busy and fun day today!

Today we began with a horse coloring page. Then, we looked up horses on the internet, which Becca loved seeing the pictures of the horses. We discussed features of horses in the picture and where horses are located. After, Becca and I assembled an emergent reader called "On the Ranch." Becca colored the items in the story according to how the story read. For example, "I see a green cactus on the ranch." Becca colored the cactus green. "I see a yellow lasso on the ranch." Becca colored the lasso yellow. She would indicate what she saw in the picture such as a cactus and I would prompt her to tell me what color the cactus was. We read through this story a few times through. We completed an -et and -eg word sorter where Becca sorted pictures of these ending sounds in the correct column. I would ask Becca "Does jet have the -et sound or the -eg sound?" She responded with the correct ending sound with all eight pictures. I was very impressed! Becca and I went into the Art room and painted a picture of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Becca was very polite using the words "please" and "thank you" when choosing which color she wanted to paint with. In addition, she was very good about using one color paint at a time so that we did not mix the paint colors. Becca was in a crafty mood and wanted to continue working in the art room after our picture was completed. Therefore, Becca and I created a snake using a paint brush to add glue in the shape of a snake onto the construction paper. Then, we added gold glitter on top of glue. Once our snake was created we returned to the classroom and Becca traced the letter S on lined composition paper. I assisted Becca with hand over hand in order for her to practice tracing the letter S. We glued this onto our snake picture and hung this in Becca's room. Becca told me that our snake was a slithering snake and expressed the hish sound that a snake makes. Then, Becca watched a video on starfall.com on the letter S. In Becca's book bag is the picture frame that Becca painted and decorated the other day. I thought maybe when Becca is at Disney this weekend she can take a family photo and use that photo to put into her picture frame!

We had another busy day today! Becca was very bubbly, warm, and full of energy! Becca really enjoys watching the Richard Scarry version of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" on the iPad so we began our day with that. Then, we reviewed our emergent reader of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears." We added more recall cards to our color cards we have already been using for this story in order for Becca to retell the story in more detail. Becca and I completed a word family activity where Becca sorted pictures of words that end in -ap. I would ask Becca "Does map or run end in the -ap sound?" Becca would respond with the -ap word. In addition, she glued the picture words onto the sorter. During snack, Becca watched an educational video from Richard Scarry's Best Learning Songs. It was cute to hear Becca singing along with some of the songs! After, Becca watched a video on starfall.com on the letter M. Then, Becca completed a worksheet on the letter M where she had to identify upper and lower case M. She had more of a difficult time identifying the lowercase M than she did with the uppercase M. We completed a worksheet involving biggest and smallest. She had to look at the sets of pictures and point to the biggest and smallest picture as well as recite which one was the biggest or smallest. She got all four sets correct! Becca and I go to the potty everyday before snack around 10:30. At 11:30 Becca asked to go to the potty and she pooped. Because she asked to go to the potty Becca was able to pick something from the treasure chest, which she picked a cute pen with a cow on it! I was so happy that Becca knew she needed to go potty and asked to go! Yay Becca!

We started off the day with a Sofia the First coloring page. Becca was energetic and delightful throughout our session. We assembled a emergent reader story called "Kitty, Kitty, what do you see?" Becca was excited about this because she was wearing a Hello Kitty outfit today! I encouraged Becca to color the story picking one crayon at a time to color the objects with instead of a handful of crayons. When we read the story together Becca was able to provide the answer to what she saw in the story for example, a pencil, markers, glue, and water color paint. Today, we read the story "Rainbow Fish." Then, Becca and I created a rainbow fish craft where we used a paper plate as our fish and Becca ripped pieces of colored tissue paper. She added glue to the paper plate and stuck the tissue paper onto the plate. She did a great job with this activity and seemed to really enjoy it! We hung our rainbow fish craft in Becca's room. Becca and I completed a worksheet involving big and small sizes. She had to look at the shapes in each of the four sections and I would ask her which shape was bigger and which was smaller. Becca got all four sections correct pointing out to me which shape was big or small in each section. Finally, Becca and I reviewed our farm story called "Where is the Cow." Becca uses a picture of a farmer to show me the direction the farmer uses in the story. For example, "The farmer looks on top of the barn." Using the farmer Becca will place the farmer on top of the barn and repeat the direction saying "on top."
