He focused on details and spelling. Max ordered a set of cards in order from greatest to least. He identified if the numbers were in word or standard form. Adding Triple Digits with Regrouping, Context Clues, Number Patterns, Connections

Max completed multiple addition problems with triple digit regrouping. He solved each problem and found his answer on a mixed up puzzle. He then completed the puzzle and created a snowman. Max completed his math workbook from his school. He completed multiple number pattern problems. He identified the rule of the pattern and filled in the missing numbers. Max read Diary of a Wimpy kid aloud to me. He identified unknown words and used context clues to find the definition. Max and I walked to the library and went back to our article from yesterday. He identified nonfiction text features and renamed the subtitles. I read
aloud the book,"Thank You, Mr. Falker." Max made connections to his own life as we read this book. Max picked a book from the library and independently read it.
Max makes a seven piece tan gram. Each of the piece patterns are traced on to a thin piece of black walnut. Each piece is then cut out on a miter box using a back saw. Lastly, each part is carefully sanded with 100 grit sand paper. Project completed in one hour. Excellent session.

Max completed an about me robot. He identified his favorite food, activity, what he wants to be when he grows up, etc. He placed his robot on the Christmas tree. Maxs completed his assignment from his school math workbook. He completed multiple number patterns. Max identified the rule of each pattern and filled in the empty boxes. Max read Diary of a Wimpy kid aloud to me. We found the meaning of unknown words and asked questions as we read. We walked to the library and read an article about red pandas. We examined how red pandas are alike and different from panda bears and we wrote five interesting facts.
Max and I share-read Dog Days of Diary of a Winpy Kid. We stopped and discussed the events as they occurred. Max drew an illustration of surfing to connect with how the illustrator drew illustrations to demonstrate what was happening.
Max worked on memorizing all multiplication and division facts for the 6 & 7 families. We created a poster, memorized the numbers associated with each family, and took a pre and post timed quiz to record Max's progress. We played Multiplication Go Fish. Even he was impressed with his improvement in one day! Great job Max!

Today Max began our session reading for half an hour. We discussed what he read and he began his own comic strip depicting one of his favorite days. He copied the style of his Wimpy Kid book, and carefully thought out the sequencing of his comic strip. After that, we played Multiplication War and Fraction Go Fish.

Today Max had a very busy tutoring session. We spent the first part of the session reading together and discussing what we read. Then he picked one of his favorite sections from the story and made a picture chart sequencing the section. He wrote about what happened first, next, and last. I had him complete this exercise in an effort to show him a way to help himself slow down and really focus on what he is reading. We also reviewed fractions while playing a fraction memory game.
Today Max spent the first thirty minutes of his session reading from his assigned reading book. He answered comprehension questions and summarized what he read. We talked about stopping and checking for understanding at the end of each page. After that, he practiced 2 and 3 digit subtraction problems on the wipe off board. In addition, he practiced his multiplication facts with flash cards. At the end of our session, we reviewed the relationship between simple division and multiplication.
