OT Session
Lesson Outline
The school participated in a group Thanksgiving celebration during the first part of the session. Today Richard worked on fine motor and visual perceptual skills while playing pictionary. He required some verbal assistance to come up with general topic to draw but demonstrated significant improvement in fine motor/drawing skills, including diagonal lines and increased detail since the last time he played this game at end of last school year.

OT Session
Lesson Outline
Richard began his OT session working on wall pushups with head turn to right and left to work on ATNR reflex integration with a noted right elbow bend 6 out of 10 times. No elbow bend when provided moderate verbal reminders. He was asked to join a peer to build a science project. Richard demonstrated excellent ability to work as a team, communicating ideas and encouraging each other. He also presented with good fine motor and bilateral integration skills. Richard's mother reported that he will be receiving vision therapy 4 days a week. OT will discontinue oculomotor activities and continue to focus on visual perception, fine motor, motor planning and executive functioning skills.

Richard demonstrated good participation throughout the session with movement breaks. He continued to participate in activities to address retained ATRN reflex. Moderate right elbow bend was noted 8 out of 10 times. With verbal cues Richard was able to maintain correct positioning 90% of the time. After 5 minutes of fine motor strengthening and coordination activities with theraputty and clothespins he worked on keyboarding skills with continued motivation and good positioning and finger isolation while working on pointer finger top row keys.

Occupational Therapy Treatment Session
Lesson Outline
Richard was seen in his room for a 45 minute treatment session today. Focus of treatment was on improving fine motor skills (hand strength, grip strength, dexterity and manipulation), visual motor integration, ocular motor skills, and graphomotor skills/keyboarding as an alternate means to written communication. Began session with keyboard training with typing.com. Richard continues to type 4-6 wpm with minimal to no errors. He is very methodical with his typing and using isolated finger movements. Continue treatment with reviewing all previous letters learned in cursive. Richard's recall for the formations of these letters is adequate. Lastly he participated in Ann Arbor tracking program to work on his visual pursuits. Richard is getting a little faster scanning left to right top to bottom. Good session.

Focus of treatment was on improving fine motor skills (hand strength, grip strength, dexterity and manipulation), visual motor integration, ocular motor skills, and graphomotor skills/keyboarding as an alternate means to written communication. Began treatment outside using yoga mat to participate in activities aimed at integration of the ATNR reflex. Continued inside to review all previously learned letters in cursive. Richard was able to recall and write all letters on a light up magic pad except for the "p". He was instructed on the lowercase letter "y" today and was able to write it well. Lastly we worked on connections in cursive. Great session today.

Focus of treatment was on improving fine motor skills (hand strength, grip strength, dexterity and manipulation), visual motor integration, ocular motor skills, and graphomotor skills/keyboarding as an alternate means to written communication. To begin today's session, Richard has to cut out various schapes to make "Script Island's" island. This island is used when teaching the next cursive letter group and helps the learner visually and to trace the movement of the next group of letters. Using this visual reference makes learning this group of letters easier and less confusing. The group of letters Richard is learning is called "Up and Around to Mikey's Hut" letters which consist of cursive lowercase letters "c, o, a, d, g, and q". Today Richard was instructed on lowercase letter "c" and was able to write it adequately. Lastly, he participated in the "Ann Arbor Tracking Program" to work on his visual tracking (pursuits). This was a great session.

Occupational Therapy Treatment Session
Lesson Outline
Luke was seen in his room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his bilateral integration/hand usage, fine motor development, graphomotor skills, postural control and sensory processing/organization for improved general performance in various environments. During today's session we start with Rol 'N Write letter play. This is an activity in which a marble is placed on a plastic letter and the marble will roll in which the way the letter is formed. Today for Print Island we were going over the letters in the last group for lowercase which were "z and e". We used the Rol 'N Write activity to watch the movements to form these letters. During our fine motor play we discussed the Zones of Regulation and referenced which zone he was operating in. Luke was able to say he was in the green zone and shared a time when he was in the red zone. He is starting to be better able to identify his emotions and is becoming more self aware.

Lesson Outline
Luke was seen in his room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his bilateral integration/hand usage, fine motor development, graphomotor skills, postural control and sensory processing/organization for improved general performance in various environments. To start today's session we continue with identification of feelings with the book "The Way I Feel". This book talks about and illustrates emotions. Luke was able to relate to some of the feeling and even gave examples of certain feelings he has experienced. He is starting to identify his own feelings. Continued working on Print Island. Today we worked on lowercase letter "v and x". Luke was able to label both these letters as trunk letters (line placement identification word which means they sit in the middle of the writing line). He continues to be working hard in OT. Great session.

Lesson Comments
Luke told me that he did not want the big poster board of the Zones of Regulation in his room but he was okay with the smaller version on his wall to reference. I told him that was great and he was able to communicate this in a thoughtful way versus hurtful way which was progress.

Upon therapist arrival Luke was lying on his couch and said he was tired. Began treatment with bilateral hand work via sewing - up and down through holes. Continued to work on Zones of Regulation with more identification of emotions by reading someone's facial expression. Luke was able to place each facial expression card in either the red zone, blue zone, yellow zone or green zone with minimum assistance. Reviewed all previous learned letters in Script Island. Luke was able to form a majority of the learned letters correctly however needed reminders for the letters "d, h and q". Luke would benefit from continued work on Zones of Regulations to help with self regulation abilities.
