Luke was seen in his room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his bilateral integration/hand usage, fine motor development, graphomotor skills, postural control and sensory processing/organization for improved general performance in various environments. Luke asked to play pickle ball outside at the start of our session today. We spent 10 minutes outside playing and he demonstrated good attention to task without frustration. We continued treatment in his room working in Zones of Regulation work while making a Christmas ornament. For each color fuzzy ball we glued on he would have to tell a time when he felt in that color zone. For example, when we glued a blue ball on he said "I was in the blue zone when I didn't feel good". He was able to say more than one correct emotion for the color fuzzy balls we used to make his ornament. We also talked about strategies to use when in the the yellow, blue and red zone. For example, six sided breathing, hot chocolate breathing, listening to music and knowing when to ask for a break. He really enjoys listening and humming along to music. This seems to calm him. Great session
Richard was seen in his room for a 45 minute treatment session today. Focus of treatment was on improving fine motor skills (hand strength, grip strength, dexterity and manipulation), visual motor integration, ocular motor skills, and graphomotor skills/keyboarding as an alternate means to written communication. Began today's session with mat exercises using MRNI technique to integrate the ATNR reflex. Richard continued session working on ocular motor skills with pursuits and saccades activities. Lastly, we continued our script handwriting practice and reviewed previously learned letters. We continue to put special focus on some letters that are a little more difficult for Richard which are letters "g and q" in cursive. We also worked on the high connector of "o" and making sure it looks different than cursive "a". Lastly we worked on the letter connection of "qu". Great session.

Focus of treatment was on improving fine motor skills (hand strength, grip strength, dexterity and manipulation), visual motor integration, ocular motor skills, and graphomotor skills/keyboarding as an alternate means to written communication. Began treatment session outside doing mat MRNI exercises to integrate retained primitive reflex (ATNR). continued to work at his desk on cursive handwriting. We are still working on the letter group called "Up and Around to Mikey's Hut" and today Richard was instructed on the lowercase "q" in script. He practiced writing "g" and wrote " q" and then practiced connecting and writing "qu". Writing "q" was difficult for Richard and he had to practice writing it large first with auditory cues to help him learn the movement to form the letter. In the end Richard was able to write it well.
Today we worked on both keyboarding as an alternate to written communication and writing in cursive. Richard used typing.com to work on keyboarding. He is able to type around 7 words per minute with 84% accuracy. Continued working in Print Island on the group "Up and Around to Mikey's Hut". Richard reviewed previously learned letters in this group and wrote them well. The letters learned consisted of "c, o, a, and d". Today he learned lowercase letter "g". This was a little bit more difficult to learn but by the end of the session Richard wrote it well.

Today we continued with instruction on cursive handwriting using "Script Island". Richard is continuing to work on the Script Island letter Group called "Up and Around to Mikey's Hut" letters. He has been instructed on letters "c, o and a" so far and today he learned the letter lowercase "d". Continued session working on manuscript writing as he wrote a letter to "Santa". He was provided with visual boundaries with half highlighted paper and some verbal cues for formations but writing looked great. Good session.

Focus of treatment was on improving fine motor skills (hand strength, grip strength, dexterity and manipulation), visual motor integration, ocular motor skills, and graphomotor skills/keyboarding as an alternate means to written communication. Richard started today's session learning a new letter in script island. He is on the group called "Up and Around to Mikey's Hut". Each letter in this group is formed with a lowercase cursive "c" and today Richard was instructed on lowercase letter "a". Next, we worked on visual pursuits using the Ann Arbor tracking program. Richard was able to track and circle words of a sentence scrambled in a paragraph within 28 seconds. Good session.

Focus of treatment was on improving fine motor skills (hand strength, grip strength, dexterity and manipulation), visual motor integration, ocular motor skills, and graphomotor skills/keyboarding as an alternate means to written communication. Began treatment outside on mat to work on reflex integration using MNRI technique. Richard continues to work on integrating his ATNR reflex which was considered active when last assessed. Continued with ocular motor exercises for tracking a marble on an infinity 8 track. Lastly, reviewed cursive writing letters "i, u, w, and p". He was able to write them with good visual memory only needed verbal assistance with the letter "p". Good session.

Luke was seen in his room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his bilateral integration/hand usage, fine motor development, graphomotor skills, postural control and sensory processing/organization for improved general performance in various environments. Began treatment with watching "Buddy the Elf" expected versus unexpected behaviors. Also talked about the "Grinch" and how he changed zones from always being in the red zone to being in the green zone most of the time. Worked on manuscript writing using Print Island. Today Luke was instructed on the upper case letter "M". He also participated in a lowercase writing activity in which he had to label parts of an elf. Boxes were provided as a visual cue for size of letters. He required min. verbal cues to form the lower case letters correctly. Good session.

Luke does not like when you tell him how to form letters as verbal cues sometimes because he thinks he already knows how
Luke was seen in his room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his bilateral integration/hand usage, fine motor development, graphomotor skills, postural control and sensory processing/organization for improved general performance in various environments. Began session with writing a visual schedule of session activities. We continued to work on recognition of expected versus unexpected behaviors. Also discussed what to do when we start to get into the yellow and red zones. Strategies were discussed and practiced. Luke seems to becoming better able to understand these concepts but unable to use them at this time.
Luke was seen in his room for a 45 minute occupational therapy treatment session. Focus of treatment was on improving his bilateral integration/hand usage, fine motor development, graphomotor skills, postural control and sensory processing/organization for improved general performance in various environments. Began treatment with putty hand strengthening activity. Continued with working on ZOR with Luke. I gave him "break" cards and taught him how these are used for when he needs a break. For example, the card is red for when he feels in the red zone and he would give it to his teacher to request a break. The card instructs the child how to take a break like getting a drink of water, taking a deep breath, or taking a walk. We also watched a video to demonstrate expected versus unexpected behaviors. Luke was very interested and focused during this task. He was able to properly label behaviors observed. He spoke with a peer about his behavior being expected versus unexpected. Lastly, we made a Christmas ornament. Good session.
